The Maldives JW Marriott Resort, formerly known as Viceroy, is located in the Shaviyani Atoll and can be reached by seaplane in approximately 45 minutes, offering panoramic views of the Maldivian archipelago. The resort was acquired by Marriott International in 2023, becoming the company’s fifth property in the Maldives. Architectural renovations preserved the original two-story villa design while upgrading public areas and finer details. The island features six restaurants, three bars, and two public pools. It comprises 31 water villas and 29 beach villas, with a high-end overall configuration. The seawall is level with the sea surface, minimizing visual obstruction. Staff numbers range from about 340 to 370, resulting in a staff-to-guest ratio of 7:1. All-inclusive packages include breakfast and dinner, with other restaurants offering 40% discounts; additional spending averages around $100 per person. Breakfast service extends until 11 a.m. Snorkeling conditions are favorable, leveraging the existing island infrastructure to offer scuba diving lessons. Water villas feature a two-story layout, with a sofa bed and private bathroom on the upper level, allowing flexible conversion into a two-bedroom setup. Both floors are equipped with mini-bars and televisions. Beach villas are surrounded by lush greenery, and the front lagoon displays multi-layered color variations under sunlight. The main restaurant, AAILAA, offers customized dining options. Diverse culinary experiences are available at Italian restaurant FIAMMA, treehouse Thai restaurant KAASHI, Japanese restaurant HASHI, barbecue restaurant SHIO, and Middle Eastern-Indian restaurant RIHA. All-inclusive guests may dine at designated restaurants and enjoy drinks freely at the bars. Chinese menus and Chinese-speaking staff are provided, along with personalized butler service. SPA treatments support custom essential oil blending and feature Chinese-language menu options—ensuring comprehensive operational coverage since opening.
